My Everyday Life in Lindsay California
Living in such a small town, you come to find that everyone knows everyone, well most people do. I have a big role in the town so I know a lot of people. They have high expectations for me and that is why I maintain what I do so I could have a good reputation. Not only do I do it to make my community happy, but I do it to make myself happy. Knowing I can help the community in anyway makes me feel good about myself and makes me want to continue to do it more often just because of the feeling I get when doing something positive.
At the beginning of high school, I didn’t know what I had ahead of me. As weeks past I was lost with the new system, new people, and new environment. I didn’t let it affect me as much as it did other people. I’ve always been the child who gets good grades and if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be allowed to participate in any activities so it has just been a habit. As weeks went by I finally knew I needed to have systems that were more time consuming. I figured a way out and managed to do everything I needed to do in a day.
I attend a school with a student body of just a little over of 2,000 students. Since there is just a little amount of students, things get around easier. That is the positive thing about my school is that I am able to know what is going on around my campus and all the current events happening. It is also easier going to a school with just 2,000 students for the reason that the teachers can have a one on one session with me and really take the time to teach me something I need extra help on. The biggest challenge I have with my school would be our grading system. At LHS we have a numbering system and not a letter system such as a, b, c, d, and f, instead we have 4,3,2,1. When the school began this system, it was very puzzling to corporate with. Then later in the years I began to realize it has pushed me to do great things in order to have great grades. The excessive things would be doing level 4 projects and helping students in my school when they don’t understand something that I do understand. This system has its cons and pros but I believe it has helped me a lot with being able to speak better publicly and help my fellow classmates.
My typical day would be going to school at 8 o’clock every morning. I go to 4 class periods a day and then school will end around 3. After 3 o’clock, I play three sports so I stay after school every day for most of the school year either at practice or a game. After the sports, I go home spend time with my family and give myself an hour to three hours doing homework and studying. This schedule is most of the time my everyday routine and I enjoy having this as my everyday life because I do everything I enjoy which is being able to go to school and learn and pass all test and projects I do, go play volleyball, basketball, and softball, then being able to go home and spend some time with my family and eventually getting to my study hours.
The little town of Lindsay, California really has helped shape my world, dreams, and aspirations. This little town and people in my community have given me opportunities that will benefit me get to where I want to be in the future. These opportunities are things such as Avid, clubs that give me the chance to work in my community and that is what I love to do best; give back to the place that has given me so much for something I would love to do in the future.
